The statue was cool, but the climate was cooold ! Her face was calm, but the wind wasn't!! Oh, that it had been a nice day!
This is the library of the Columbia University. Do you know Columbia University?
It is the fifth oldest university in the U.S. Barack Obama, who was the 44th president of the U.S., used to be a student of this university.
【国連本部】Usually, there are many national flags in front of the UN Headquarters. But we couldn't see any of them because of the bad weather. I was a little bit sad. We visited some famous rooms in the UN Headquarters. Take the room of the Security Council, for example, I felt that this place is the center of international politics.
【自然歴史博物館】If you visit American
Museum of Natural History, you should look for "Moai". Moai appears in a famous movie.
【メトロポリタンミュージアム】In the Metropolitan Museum of Art, there are not only pictures but many statues, vases, opulent rooms, and so on.
【バスの中】This is the picture I took from the bus in NY. I felt as if I were in the movie! The view was so nice but the road was not so nice. The bus was sometimes jolted!
I was surprised with the size of Roosevelt High School that is too big to be compared with Yokohama Suiran High school. Classrooms, corridors, lockers, all of them were like the world in American movie. Also, we saw an interesting event. It seemed like a love confession scene. The boy came out from the box on the red carpet and called the girl who was in the crowd. And then, the boy gave her a bouquet, and told her his feelings to her. Such as an event is unique, so I was so surprised!
【ルー校生とゲーム】After the school tour, we played some games. I learned a new kind of Janken. It was hard for me because I don't have a supple body:( American students taught us Ninja-game. It was not difficult and we really enjoyed this game. I played these games after I came back to Japan.
【ワシントンD・C 校外研修】I enjoyed Newseum and American History Museum. It was difficult for me to understand all pieces because all explanations were written in English. But my host explained it more easily, so I could understand. We learned many things.
【女子ラグビーの試合観戦！】We went to a rugby field to see the girls' rugby game.Eleanor Roosevelt high school has its own rugby field and it was so big!! Eleanor Roosevelt high school won the game!! It was so exciting!
We cooked spaghetti and green salad. We helped and communicated with each other. They were supposed to get one cheesecake, but actually they ate three cheesecakes. lol Spaghetti and green salad tasted good!
We had a pizza party!!It was soo exciting. There were many kinds of pizzas and drinks. American pizzas were so big and deliiiicious!! And I had cherry flavored Coke. I had never seen it in Japan. But I'd heard that it is very popular in the US from ERHS students. And we enjoyed talking with ERHS students. ERHS students were very friendly. I recommend you join the party with an empty stomach.
There were so many people at the welcome assembly. They welcomed us. We did a play of "Urashimataro". We also enjoyed watching some performances by American students. All of them were so exciting!
My host brother was David. At first he didn't seem as friendly, but as we spent more time together, we got to know each other well and became good friends. Although he sometimes seemed almost indifferent toward me, I came to find out that he actually cared for me, when he cried for me at the farewell ceremony. I will never be able to forget the partly culture-shocking but for the most part fun days we spent together.
We spent 7 days with our host families. They were very kind. And they took me to some places. We went shopping and watched a movie. People made big reaction. And this picture captured a moment at which I went to on Sunday. It was very beautiful and my heart became warm. I had a great time with my host family.
The foods we cooked hard were great. They were spicy, salty and sweet. After that, we did rehearsal of the event called "culture shock" in the cafeteria. There were some people who sang a song, danced and did human beat box. We were very excited!
Thanks to the host students, we could enjoy our stay a lot. We didn't want to say goodbye. We promised to keep in touch and to return to America again. We will never forget about host students. We are friends forever.
